“This day trip was the highlight for my time in Naples by far. Raffaella was a great guide and very friendly and the driver with her(sorry I forgot his name) was great. If you can, go with the wine tasting and lunch. Worth every penny and the lunch spot has an incredible view”

Capri Boat Tour from Sorrento: Swim, Grottos & Light Lunch

2.Capri Boat Tour from Sorrento: Swim, Grottos & Light Lunch

★★★★★★★★★★5.0 · 1,201 reviews · 7 to 8 hours (approx.) · from $143Top rated

Set out from Sorrento with an English-speaking skipper and no more than 12 people aboard. Cruise past Capri’s grottos and Faraglioni, with swimming stops when conditions allow, then spend about four hours on the island. A Caprese sandwich, snacks and drinks are included. The Blue Grotto requires a separate tour option and entrance fee.

“It's a small group tour, therefore a small boat. The water between Sorrento and Capri is generally not smooth. Having said that, I'm slightly susceptible to feeding the fish on this type of trip. No worries this time, some ginger pills with breakfast and all good. It fit our timeline for seeing the highlights, but I would suggest an earlier morning ferry ride over, smoother and less costly, and spend time at your leisure exploring. Our guide Francisco was highly enthusiastic, very engaging and knowledgeable, giving us a multitude of tidbits along the way. Open bar is always a plus. A wonderful daytrip, highly recommend it.”

Spend about seven hours pairing Pompeii’s Roman streets with a vineyard lunch, wine tasting and a guided ride at roughly 400 to 500 meters on Mount Vesuvius. An archaeologist leads the two-hour ruins tour; horse guides help beginners as well as experienced riders. Pickup may be available from Naples or the Amalfi Coast if you select that option.

“Starting with the trip to Pompei- the tour guide, Vivian, was mesmerizing, as she knew so much about the history of the ruins and the surrounding area. The way she spoke and described everything throughout the tour made it feel like we had travelled through time and were living in that time period! I wanted to note as well that she spoke 4 different languages, which was very impressive and enabled us to connect with the visitors all around us. There were not a lot of hills, as the city was pretty flat, but there were a lot of cobblestones and uneven surfaces. Therefore I recommend wearing comfortable shoes and…”

“I 100% reccomend this tour. This was the best sea/ocean swimming of my life! And I love to swim. The water was beautiful and clear. The five stops around the island for swimming were each different and delightful. (I did bring my own snorkeling gear so I used that.) I found the September water temperature to be perfect. And everytime we got out of the water and on to the boat to continue the tour, we were treated to new delicious food. The captain, Fabio, was great. I appreciated that he was in touch the night before with instructions for meeting in the morning. What a way to celebrate my…”

Guides have included Paula or Paola, Gino, and Miguel. Tickets and lunch are included; the Vesuvius climb is steep in places.

“Good pick up, guided tour of Pompeii by local expert is definitely the way to go; they know the main sites, explain with detail knowledge of Roman life and how Vesuvius impacted Pompeii. The guide tries to avoid the crowds from cruise ships and stops to explain areas without being rushed. We then went to a winery for lunch which was more than adequate, get to taste 3 wines with lunch. The small mini bus was a bit crowded as 2 trips merged into one to go to Vesuvius. It’s a pretty steep hike, but most can steadily make it up. Could be uncomfortable in the heat. Seeing the crater…”
